Lips

The use of dermal fillers in the lips can restore lost volume, enhance shape and definition, and hydrate the lips from the inside.

When performed by a skilled medical practitioner, lip enhancement can result in beautifully natural lips that balance the face and work in harmony with your natural features.

How does it work?

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are injected into the lips to provide instant correction. Hyaluronic acid both attracts and binds water in the skin, and supports collagen and elastin fibres, providing volume and hydration.

At Six Aesthetics, we only use premium quality products. Our preference is the CE marked and FDA approved brand Juvéderm.

What are the benefits?

To restore or enhance the lips. Hyaluronic fillers can be used to plump the lips to rejuvenate the appearance and restore lost volume, add definition and enhance existing volume. Lip augmentation can be used to reduce the appearance of fine lines around the mouth and promote a more youthful appearance.

When will I start to see the results?

The effects of hyaluronic acid fillers can be seen instantly, but swelling will also be present for the first 24-72 hours after treatment. The final result can be judged 2 weeks after treatment.

How long do results last?

Longevity may vary, but tends to last up to 18 months.

Does it hurt?

We use Juvéderm branded products which contain local anaesthetic. We also offer topical anaesthetic (numbing) cream before the procedure to minimise any discomfort.

What do I need to do before my appointment?

We recommend that you do not drink alcohol the night before your treatment and caffeine on the day of your treatment as it can increase your risk of bruising.

It is important you tell us about any skin conditions, medicines or dietary supplements during your consultation as some medicines can adversely affect the way the treatment works or increase your risk of bruising.

What do I need to do after the treatment?

Most people are able to continue with normal activities immediately after treatment, although you may have some mild redness, swelling or bruising.

Make-up should not be worn for 12 hours and you are advised to avoid aspirin, alcohol, vigorous exercise, sunbathing and extremes of temperature for up to 14 days post treatment. Arnica can be helpful in clearing bruising.

Full aftercare instructions will be provided by your practitioner following treatment.

Please contact your practitioner if you notice any skin mottling or dark/pale patches of skin or if any redness, tenderness, itching or swelling worsens after 3 days.

Is it safe?

Dermal fillers are considered safe when administered by a qualified medical practitioner. We will discuss all the risks and benefits with you at consultation and again prior to treatment.
