Platelet Rich Plasma for Skin
Injection of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), also known as the ‘vampire facial’ stimulates cell growth, remodelling and collagen production. This leads to a slowdown in the ageing process, improvement of skin texture and tone, diminishing fine lines/wrinkles and scars, and gradual increase in skin thickness and vitality. Importantly, the skin will maintain a natural-looking appearance after the treatment.
All injectable procedures are subject to a non-obligation face to face consultation
Your appointments
Consultation: We will start with a detailed consultation to ensure this treatment is right for you and to talk through the expected results. If you decide to proceed with the treatment, a cooling off period is always offered.
Treatment: Appointments last 45-60mins and may require a little more down time. Three treatments three to six weeks apart are recommended for optimal results, with a ‘one-off’ treatment every 6 months for maintenance.

How does it work?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an established injection therapy to enhance tissue regeneration and skin rejuvenation. PRP is a concentrated preparation of your own platelets and their associated growth factors in a small volume of plasma. PRP therapy delivers growth factors at high concentrations to the treatment areas, resulting in skin improvement and rejuvenation.
Injection of PRP activates platelets causing them to release regeneration-associated growth factors, which initiate a healing response by attracting stem cells, stimulating cell growth, tissue remodeling and collagen production.
What are the benefits?
The PRP stimulates cell growth, remodelling and collagen production which helps to slowdown in the ageing process, improves of skin texture and tone, diminishes fine lines/wrinkles and scars, and gradually increases skin thickness and vitality. The skin will maintain a natural-looking appearance after the treatment and is ideal for patients who do not wish to look ‘done’.
Furthermore, PRP may be used in sensitive areas such as around the eyes, which are not suited for other treatments. PRP can also be combined with other treatments (in particular microneedling) to stimulate a further biological response for amazing results.
When will I start to see the results?
Since PRP stimulates a biological effect, results should not be expected immediately. Most patients report noticing an improvement after the first 2-3 weeks, and further improvements over 6-12 months.
How long do results last?
Results can be visible after a single treatment, and the treatment can offer long-lasting results with minimal side effects. Optimum results are achieved over a course of 3 treatments, 3-6 weeks apart. A ‘top up’ one off treatment is recommended six monthly going forwards to maintain the results.
Does it hurt?
To ensure your comfort, we do apply a topical anaesthetic cream to numb the skin prior to treatment. A very fine needle is used and this treatment is well tolerated by patients.
What do I need to do before my appointment?
We will remove your make-up in the treatment areas before the procedure and you will be advised not to reapply it for at least 12 hours after treatment in order to reduce the risk of infection or irritation at the injection sites.
We recommend that you do not drink alcohol the night before your treatment and caffeine on the day of your treatment as it can increase your risk of bruising.
It is important you tell us about any medicines or dietary supplements during your consultation as some medicines can adversely affect the way the treatment works or increase your risk of bruising. Consistent use of NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen) should be avoided 48 hours prior to the procedure.
Treatment cannot be administered if there is an active skin infection, including acne or cold sores, or if you are unwell- including colds, coughs, sore throats etc. Do contact the clinic to discuss any illness or new medicines prior to attending.
Be aware of the necessary after care advice and that your schedule allows for you to follow it.
What do I need to do after the treatment?
Immediately after treatment you may notice raised blebs or bumps at the injection sites across the target area (such as across your face, neck or décolletage). For this reason, the treatment is considered to warrant some ‘down time’ and you may choose to go straight home after the procedure. These bumps will improve and most find they have gone by the following day, however it is possible they may still be visible for a few days afterwards. Make up can be worn from the following day.
You are advised to avoid alcohol, exercise and extremes in temperature for 48 hours after the treatment. Do not use hair dyes for a week following treatment.
Only use the recommended products until the skin returns to its normal colour and the blebs have dissipated, then usual skincare may be resumed. An SPF of at least 30 should be worn daily during the course of the treatment.
Is it safe?
PRP treatment is autologous (meaning that the PRP is derived from the patient’s own blood), minimising safety concerns for allergic response or disease transmission.
