Skin Peels

Also known as chemical peels, skin peels help to improve skin texture and tone by minimising fine lines/wrinkles, improving pores and firmness whilst promoting collagen and elastin production. The powerful ingredients help to brighten the skin and exfoliate away debris that has built up over time, resulting in a radiant complexion.

ZO Skin Health peels are a non-invasive treatment that uses medical grade products with carefully selected active ingredients to provide clinically proven results.

How does it work?

A chemical peel is a technique used to improve the condition, texture and tone of the skin by using a chemical formula that removes the outer epidermal layers of the skin. By minimising damage to the barrier layer, the chemical peel can penetrate deeper into the skin and speeds up cellular renewal.

What are the benefits?

The ZO Skin Health Stimulator peel utilises a blend of lactic acid, citric acid and glycolic acid to:

  • Exfoliates dead skin cells to minimize the appearance of fine lines and surface pigment

  • Evens skin tone and prevents inflammation

It also includes anti-irritant benefits to help calm and soothe the skin.

The ZO Skin Health 3-Step-Peel combines salicylic acid, TCA (trichloroacetic acid) and lactic acid to:

  • Improves acne, melasma, sun damage, fine lines, texture roughness, large pores and dullness

Usage studies show that the peel is easily done, and its safety is remarkable

When will I start to see the results?

The stimulator peel (also known as the ‘Red Carpet’ peel) can be done in a lunch break and leave skin looking radiant and glowing immediately after treatment. The 3-step-peel is a deeper peel and may result in some skin flaking for two to seven days after the treatment before the results can start to be seen

How long do results last?

The number of peels and the frequency they need to be repeated will depend on the condition of your skin and factors including smoking and sun exposure.

For the stimulator peel, results can be achieved after a single treatment. For maximum results, a series of three or four treatment can be carried out about two weeks apart.

The medium-depth 3-step-peel may require a specific skincare regime prior to the first treatment and this skincare will need to be continued after the treatment. A course of one to three treatments may be required to gain the desired outcome, and you may experience some skin flaking and downtime after the procedure.

Does it hurt?

This treatment is well tolerated by patients. There may be some tingling, tightness, hotness or prickling sensations. If this at any point this is too uncomfortable then let us know.

What do I need to do before my appointment?

Make up will need to be removed prior to treatment, so please come ‘fresh faced’ if possible. You will be advised not to reapply it for at least 12 hours after treatment in order to reduce the risk of infection or irritation.

Treatment cannot be administered in the case of some skin infections such as coldsores. Do contact the clinic to discuss any illness or new medicines prior to attending.

Be aware of the necessary after care advice and that your schedule allows for you to follow it.

What do I need to do after the treatment?

Immediately after treatment your skin will be pink, the varies between individuals from a pale pink blush to a deep beetroot red. Following the stimulator peel, you should be able to return to normal light duties (such as return to work) immediately, and this peel can be provided in a lunch break. Make up can be reapplied to the face from the following day.

The 3-step-peel is a deeper treatment and the skin may flake for up to seven days after the treatment. You are advised not to apply liquid make up such as foundation while the skin is actively peeling, and are also advised not to peel the flaking skin from the face but to trim it back where needed.

Only use the recommended products until the skin returns to its normal colour and, in the case of the 3-step-peel stopped flaking, then usual skincare may be resumed. An SPF of at least 30 is mandatory while the skin is recovering and exposure to direct sunlight, extremes in temperature and vigorous exercise is to be avoided. Do not use hair dyes for a week following treatment.

Is it safe?

Chemical skin peels are a non-invasive procedure and can be considered safe when provided by appropriately trained practitioners.
